Dawg Pound

Problem

The Cleveland Browns have one of the most passionate and storied fan cultures in the NFL, yet the Dawg Pound, the team's legendary fan base, has never had its own official visual identity. Decades of organic fan lore, rituals, and energy existed without a cohesive brand system to represent them. The challenge was to give this culture a visual identity that felt authentic to Cleveland's blue collar spirit while creating a scalable brand system that could extend across merchandise, stadium environments, and digital touchpoints.

  • Establish a standalone visual identity for the Dawg Pound
  • Preserve Cleveland's legacy and blue collar spirit while modernizing the mark
  • Build a flexible logo and typography system that works across applications
  • Create a foundation that could extend into merchandise, signage, and fan experience

Strategy

I approached this as a full brand identity system, not just a logo exercise. I started by designing a primary mark, an aggressive dog head icon paired with a football, built to feel raw, heavy, and distinctly tied to Cleveland's identity. From there, I built out a supporting typography system using Chakra Petch, a bold and technical typeface that reinforced the mark's intensity, along with a focused color palette rooted in the team's signature orange and near black tones.

Once the core identity was established, I extended the system into real world applications, including circular badge lockups for jerseys and headwear, a stacked wordmark treatment for apparel, and merchandise mockups spanning t shirts, hoodies, and hats. I also concepted how the brand could expand beyond the mark itself, into streetwear collections, stadium signage, wayfinding, and an immersive fan experience within the Dawg Pound section itself.

  • Logo design and brand mark development
  • Typography and color system definition
  • Merchandise and apparel application design
  • Brand extension strategy across signage, streetwear, and fan experience concepts

Outcome

The result is a complete conceptual brand system that gives the Dawg Pound its first official visual identity, one built to feel earned rather than manufactured. The system is flexible enough to live across jerseys, streetwear, stadium signage, and digital platforms while staying rooted in the raw, loyal energy that defines Cleveland's fan base.

  • A distinctive, ownable brand mark for the Dawg Pound
  • A scalable identity system across merchandise and stadium applications
  • A framework for turning fan culture into an official brand story
  • A concept built for real world extension into product and experience
